Wow, congrats! That is so special & amazing!
I was just wondering when Tanzanite gets heated. Do you think your rough has been heated? Does it still have hints of red & brown?
I so love the stone, I cannot soak up enough info.
Hope you enjoy your treasure!

I'll reply the way Napoleon Dynamite would, and the same way all the kids I grew up with used to do. Except, we didn't keep our mouths open constantly...

LUCKYYYYY!

Not all Tanzanite is heated, the J shopping network had an unheated Tanzanite ring about 2 weeks ago and it sold out.

I just read a GIA article on tanzanite. GIA says there is no way to distinguish whether the tanzanite has been heated. On a GIA report it says that most tanzanite is heated. The heating process doesn’t change the value of the tanzanite because there is no way to determine if it has been heated or not. Most of the rough comes out of the ground brown. The heat doesn’t change the clarity of the rough. Each piece of rough has slightly different amounts of the minerals that make up a tanzanite. This is explains why some tanzanite is darker or bluer or more purple than another.
