I have a tip that works for me and some Antique dealers friends
You take a small needle or pin, then find a place on the stone to lightly scratch away a tad of the top layer, if you see white, gray or any other color OTHER than Turquoise then it's fake
Works every time for us, hope this helps (no heating of the pin either)

*Runs off to go scratch her turquoise and float her amber*
