R U going to do anything different now that the Coronavirus is a pandemic ?
I don't go out a lot due to taking care of mom and the hubs. But, I think I am going to limit my grocery shopping outings to the small IGA grocery store that is 6 blocks away from my home. I' m going to stay out of Wal- Mart for awhile. The IGA is not a crowded store. At the most maybe 5 to 10 customers...maybe more on occasion. Where Wal - Mart her can have 300 to 500 or more people in it. My freezer and cupboards are stocked. The only thing I should need to run to the store for is milk and liquid coffee creamer. I'm stocked up on our prescriptions as they are mailed with a 3 month supply. ( Which we just got filled )And i am stocked up on Tylenol PM's, cold and flu capsules, diarrhea medicine, gas - X, Miralax, Excedrin Tension Headache, Boost, toilet paper and paper towels... yup, pretty much all of the necceties. I have always been one to stock up...but even more so since mom and hubs have been sick. I just never knew when I could get mom's sister here to watch them so I could get out. But with this Coronavirus, I am going to limit my exposure to a large crowd of people.

Sounds like you are well stocked! I am pretty much a homebody so won't suffer from lack of going. I have trip to grocery planned for tomorrow & plan to get extra paper towels, t.p., hand sanitizer & wipes. Wonder if things like pet food will become hard to get?Angelflutter wrote: ↑4 years agoI don't go out a lot due to taking care of mom and the hubs. That's a good question. I went to Walmart a couple of days ago. No toilet paper. Low on paper towels. Baby wipes were almost all gone. No hand sanitizer was to be found. I got the last of their powdered milk that was on the shelf. There was maybe a half a dozen bottles of bleach. And there was not any rubbing alcohol. There wss bread on the shelves, but it was pretty picked over..... so there wasnt a lot. Mind you, at that time there was only 2 confirmed cases of the viris here in Indiana. People are already stocking up.certainly.... if you find it...grab it. Who knows what's going to happen. I saw a video on TV where 3 ladies were fighting over the last roll of toilet paper on the shelf. Good Lord.....convenience is nice.... but apparently they never thught of using a washrag and soap to take care of the privates????? It's like people are turning into animals.........I really makes me wonder how people are going to react as more cases pop up. Is somebody going to pull out a gun or knife on someone just to get TP ?????

As bad as the virus is here I have been amazed at how civil people still are. What I don't get is hoarding the bottled water. The water coming out of your tap is not going to have the virus in it. The plastic wrap on the bottles might though.
We had a real bad snowstorm here one year and we had about 4 feet of snow. The boss said everyone could go home early but dummy me stayed to sign a young couple buying their first home. My route home involved crossing a LONG bridge over Lake Washington. When I got just onto the bridge all traffic came to a stop. After not moving for about an hour I, and about 40 other impatient people, got out of our cars and started walking ahead to see what the holdup was. There was a 20 car pileup. When we were walking back to our cars there were people rifling though our cars (coats, blankets, candy bars, half filled coffee cups, bottles of water, etc were disappearing). Some entreprenuerial souls were even siphoning gas out of our cars so they could stay warm running their cars! It was the Donner Party all over again! This was just over an hour into this. About another hour or so later a fleet of tow trucks had cleared the jam and we were on our way....but I lost a chunk of my faith in the human race that day.
I am a real Girl Scout. I have enough paper towels, toilet paper, bleach, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, medical supplies, coffee, teas (herbal and regular) canned goods, dried pasta, lentils, beans, flour, frozen meat, frozen veggies, dehydrated soups and stews, canned meats, and of course my vitamins, supplements and my medicinal herbs--to last at least a month. Two if I am careful. I don't have to take any perscription medicine so I don't have to worry about that.
I am a very social animal so the biggest change for me is not getting out of the house. I don't drive, but under normal circumstances you would be surprised at how many coattails I catch a ride on! I miss my weekly trip to the casino, my biweekly trips to the library, volunteering at the food bank, shopping (even if it's window shopping). church, etc. etc. With my age and still recovering immune system---I'm not taking any chances!

@Gem Lover that’s hilarious . I have to admit I have an appointment in the morning with my primary doctor because I’m not feeling well the past few days. We just had one confirmed death in Georgia & most schools are closing for the next 2 weeks. The parade is cancelled here for St Patrick’s Day & they have cancelled our grandsons wrestling & ball practices and games. I dread going to the doctor in the morning, but I’m not feeling well & sorry for not posting anything sooner. I’ve been sleeping a lot and just feel horrible, but I don’t think it’s this virus . Please be safe, hubby brought home masks, Lysol wipes in the canister and foaming soap that I can keep in my purse. I’ve not been carrying my purse inside the stores due to all the germs but just putting my wallet and cell phone in my jacket pockets. I am sending prayers, many healing thoughts, love & light to all you wonderful friends. You’re in my thoughts daily & I will see you soon. Lots of love to you & your loved ones, Ginger

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. They are advising to stay at least 6ft from anyone but not to deny yourself healthcare. I know you will take every precaution possible & hope doc finds a way to make you feel better. Feeling bad s*cks!...and you already have a plateful without feeling bad yourself.Ginger wrote: ↑4 years ago@Gem Lover that’s hilarious . Seems after reading many articles on the virus, its Ethyl Alcohol at least 60% that most recommend as a disinfectant. So for homemade disinfectant, the alcohol can be mixed with other moisturizing agent to use as disinfectant. Bleach is great but might be too strong for some people.

I have 91% isopropyl alcohol. I was able to find it easily at the store yesterday so I stocked up on more. If this “thing” every subsides and I have a lot leftover it has many other uses. I use it in my painting to wipe all residue off things even after washing. I wipe the glass down with the alcohol. I also wipe the candles off before painting.Vicky wrote: ↑4 years ago@Catticus
