I got one word for you--hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! (OK three words).
Dr's orders are at least 2 cups of herbal tea in the morning (preferably peppermint but any will do). Don't tell Gypsy this, but no more than 2 cups of coffee, as it is a diuretic. Hit the vitamin C !! If it were me, a triple dose every 4 hrs.(but don't wake up to take it-you need your sleep). Studies have been done that show high doses of Vitamin C are about as effective as penicillin in keeping the other bad bugs at bay while you are recovering. At night at least 2 cups of chamomile tea, and melatonin if you have it and it works for you, to help you get good Rapid Eye Movement sleep. Sleep propped up in an almost sitting position to help your breathing and to let your lungs work less hard, be more efficient in oxygen transfer, and heal faster. During the day have a large pot of water on the stove simmering and put two teaspoons of Vick's Vapor Rub in it and stir. Add more water and Vicks, as needed.
If you still have that dry cough I have a very effective but very nasty natural cough remedy. I rarely use it myself as it tastes Bllechhh! Let me know.
PS Take some sublingual Vitamin B-12 complex if you are having low energy levels.
