You totally made my day with your post. LOL, LOL !! I am still laughing, but now to be serious, Mr. Lazier is afraid something just might happen to him or his rather large family because of his newly acquired wealth. They did celebrate the discovery with a BBQ of 1 of his 2,000 cows. When I read that he owned 2,000 head of cattle I thought that he must be pretty well off already and now can easily afford some security.

O.K......H p...info right-on...from BBC news
Picture showed huge chunks...
But I question " the 2,000 cows"..
That may have been "a SLIGHT EXAGGERATION"!!!
Cows have to be "milked " every day..
Whoo!!!! How long would that take???
And even with his 30 kids helping...
Oh! But maybe he gets his 4wifes to help , too.
More hands make less work!!!!!
Ha! Ha!

..
If Saniniu indeed has 2,000 cows he would have already been a very wealthy man by Tanzanian standards. An average cow goes for $269 in US dollars (or 622,000 Tanzanian shillings) there. So he already had over half a million dollars in "assets". We should have guessed this since after the first wife, you have to able to prove you can provide for the new wife too for the next marriage to be legal--ditto after the second--and ditto after the third. I believe it is assumed in the calculation the cost of supporting the children as well.

Oh yes. True. I did use the "average" grade cow and not the "exceptional" grade cow in the calculations, but potato- pataattoe...

Re: Tanzanite miner named Saniniu Lazier
I was raised on a beef production farm, hence the nickname Horsepower. I rode a horse to move the cattle. A heifer (young female), becomes a cow when she has a calf. The calf drinks the milk for 6 months before it is weaned. When the calf is weaned the mother cow dries up & there is no more milk until she has another calf. On dairy farms they take the calf away from the cow at 3 days old and use machines to milk the cows. In just a few months those cows will dry up too and stay dry until they have another calf. Several articles mentioned Mr. Lazier has a herd of 2,000 cows and I'm not sure why you find that exaggerated. It's really not that unusual and FYI Jace, not all cows need to be milked everyday.Jace wrote: ↑3 years agoS-6/27 10:15 a.m EST

Truth. I'm so glad you explained Horsepower as I was cringing with the inaccuracy.Horsepower wrote: ↑3 years agoI was raised on a beef production farm, hence the nickname Horsepower. Also..steers (which are kept in herds to sell for meat) are never milked. Just saying...Horsepower wrote: ↑3 years agoI was raised on a beef production farm, hence the nickname Horsepower. Rawhide
Frankie Laine - and let's not forget the Blues Brothers....<3
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rawhide
Keep rollin', rollin', rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them dogies rollin', rawhide
Through rain and wind and weather
H*ll bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up, rawhide
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, cut 'em out
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in, rawhide
Keep movin', movin', movin'
Though they're disapprovin'
Keep them dogies movin', rawhide
Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope 'em, throw, and brand 'em
Soon we'll be livin' high and wide
My heart's calculatin'
My true love…
