In my opinion what is special about pyrope garnet is the color. It is a very deep and very red color and not the brownish shade sometimes exhibited by Mozambique garnet. The ants is a cute side story but if I didn't like the stone I wouldn't bother with it.

Love my birthstone especially when is that vivid red, but also love the other garnet colors as well. Shop LC used to sell Bekily Change Color Garner a gem with bluish color that change to red. A great alternative to the rare and expensive Alexandrite.
