To me stainless steel looks a lot like platinum. It has that same kind of darker shade of silver, if that makes sense. Stainless is not bright white like sterling and stainless doesn't tarnish either. I own a genuine platinum band ring and the color of the platinum metal matches my stainless steel jewelry.
