Grandidierite??

Post by FarmMom » 3 months ago

I saw the presentation on Grandidierite last night, and I was a bit curious. I ahve seen them present it before and it always looked so low grade (compared to what I see for sale online). I understand it's a rare stone, but it's only rare as a QUALITY stone, clean and clear stones are VERY hard to come by, epecially any of decent size.

Last night's stones looked more blue and more clean than the usual. I wasn't sure if it was camera tricks again, or just very nice looking "samples" or what.

Has anyone bought SLC grandidierite? What are your thoughts?

or me, knowing how much shopping I've done with them and all the disappointments, I wouldn't risk it. And I can tell many of the reviews are fake on those items, and the ones that complain and speak the truth are likely cleaned off like always, so reviews don't tell the whole story ;)

I would rather walk on a beach and “find” sea glass than pay for ANY Grandidierite, because that’s exactly what it looks like to me! Their stones they show now actually look like Green Onyx which I love, but I’m not paying the prices. When they 1st started selling the stone the color was different so I don’t feel warm and fuzzy about their product in general. Sorry I can’t help you FarmMom, but I would be careful in purchasing any from Shop LC. I have seen other vendors’ product and it does seem a little nicer in quality.

Hi FarmMom......

I can't remember what I bought with this stone, I think it was a bracelet and I still to this day am very unhappy with it :(
ShopLC has a way of "intensifying" the color of stones and other items, I can see in the graphics how deep the item looks than when showing it on air!

Finally gave it to the thrift store and wished I saved my money!
Now to me that stone does look fake and cheap, however since I am not a stone expert maybe it's suppose to look dull
I saw in the "recent items" today an exquisite necklace with multi Tourmiline stones and oh I was loving that
It had bling to it, was a Chevron style with matching beads to finish off the necklace

I would have bought it if I had a pocketbook

Yes the highest quality grandidierite is much like ruby, it's clear like glass and a pariaba tourmaline color. The lower quality stuff like what SLC has you can pick up for a decent price online. It just seems that they take the lower, SLIGHTLY better quality stuff and put it into gold. I don't know why. It's STILL a low grade gem and gold doesn't make it better.

But honestly, high quality material is so hard to come by I don't think they could get their hands on enough of it.

I bought a grandidierite pendant a while back--a small one--that was nice. The stone was clear and a beautiful color. I was happy with it. But I've always been a little leery of purchasing grandidierite since it's such a rare stone.

Bella, I agree with you on their green onyx; it's very pretty. I buy a fair amount of their bead necklaces because I use the beads for jewelry-making, and I've been happy with the green onyx I've received.

Lah2001 Hi! Yes, I always loved black onyx and when Shop LC was selling the Verde green onyx I jumped on board. I bought the earrings, bracelet, pendant and ring. I think it such a neat stone. My ring could almost pass for an emerald! I’ve had people ask me if I was wearing Emerald. I just tell them it’s poor women’s Emerald green onyx and they are surprised. I am an Emerald baby and I don’t even own any!

Also a great stone to wear around Christmas time!

Yes, I purchased a green onyx beaded necklace, and I think a pair of earrings and was really pleasantly surprised how nice it was. It has an inner glow to it that reminds me of chalcedony. I bought some more items after that.

I can definitely see wearing it for Christmas time.
