I won a ring at auction and I’m reading the description and it says the following (posted below). Indicolite is blue tourmaline, not a variety of quartz. Is this real indicolite or simulated?
Add an elongated look to your finger by wearing this sparkling Monte Belo indicolite ring. Indicolite quartz is crafted from clear rock crystal quartz. Laced with rounds of white zircon and embellished with split shank, this ring features round shaped indicolite with colorful sparkles. Set in 925 sterling silver, this ring comes with finished under gallery for comfortable wearing. Ranking seven on the Mohs scale of hardness, the gem presents an even and vibrant inky blue.

Additionally, indicolite is listed as both “heated” and having no enhancements on the official LC list...which is it?

Can you provide a item number for it? Their description is very confusing and I am wondering if it’s really just the indicolite quartz they did carry here? The real gemstone is usually very expensive and I have never seen it on the RA before. It would be nice if one of the mods would answer you, but I don’t see them on here much anymore. Ginger

Under education if you look under quartz they do have an indicolite quartz which is fake like the morganique but they also have the real Indicolite listed too. In the picture of the ring does it have a clear rim around it? If it does it is the fake stuff and also how big is the stone? A real Indicolite is very very expensive unless maybe it is really tiny stones.

Yes, its a very confusing description and the gemstone enhancement list findings don't help! Its item number 3404021...but when you search it on the catalog side nothing comes upGinger wrote: ↑4 years agoCan you provide a item number for it? Yes they are tiny stones...1.06 ctw total. Yes, i know the larger indicolite pieces are very pricey and those are never on the auction sideGem Lover wrote: ↑4 years agoUnder education if you look under quartz they do have an indicolite quartz which is fake like the morganique but they also have the real Indicolite listed too. If the stones are tiny then it would be real, the quartz is offered in much larger ct. weight.

That item number does come up under a google search. It appears to be actual indicolite. SLC’s selling price was $129.99 for 1.06 carats. I don’t imagine them selling quartz for that price. Also in the attached video Karen calls it tourmaline which indicolite is. That’s a nice ring! I own only an indicolite quartz ring which I like but I wish I had the real thing!

I agree. Anytime they add ‘quartz’ to the description
it’s usually a triplet manufactured to look like the desired gemstone. When I see that I move on. I’d rather
have the real gem. The playa quartz ( think this was the name) though was quite beautiful

I think you’d have to assume that they areLauren wrote: ↑4 years agoAdditionally, indicolite is listed as both “heated” and having no enhancements on the official LC list...which is it?

heated. If it was unheated you’d be paying a lot
more for it and they’d have to show you a gem report
saying so.
