That is a superb idea! When I finds myself in a situation where dangling chains from my wrists isn't the best thing, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WILL DO!
I LOVE the way they look when they hang, and also that as gifts you don't have to worry about the recipient's size.
Now, if I'm wearing mine and there's a "Bolo Alert", I'll do exactly what you suggested!
