Loose gemstone what looks like doublets

Post by DavidH » 2 years ago

Notice some stones today that appear to be doublets. One was a Salmon Quartz and the other is a Cherry Citrine Pear shape. Item 6446588. You can see a definite seam on the shoulder of the stones where it looks like they have joined pieces together. Be careful with what you are looking at.

David, I believe that most of their colored quartz are doublets or triplets. At least most of the ones I have purchased, such as peacock and Caribbean quartz, have been but when they sold them a few years ago SLC did disclose that they were doublets and triplets.

You can find out what each gemstone involves regarding treatments, manufacturing and other things about any gem by going to SLC's Education Center Sitemap Gemstone List. Just type Education in the search box above.

It would be nice if they did provide this information on the stones they are doing this to. Found a Capri Blue Quartz this morning that is a doublet.
